Augusta woman reports rape by prospective landlord

  • Follow Crime & courts

An Augusta woman told deputies Thursday that a man locked her inside his house and raped her several times in front of his wife, according to a Richmond County Sheriff’s Office incident report.

The woman said the rape happened between 8 p.m. Tuesday and 6 a.m. Wednesday at the man’s Crawford Avenue residence, according to the report.

She told the sheriff’s office that she had gone to inquire about renting a room from the man. When asked why she didn’t report the incident until Thursday, the woman, who is 47, told officers she wasn’t sure what to do. She told deputies she was hurting, and had taken pain medication and slept all day.

According to the report, she had several cuts and scrapes on her mouth and nose, which she told deputies were a result of having her mouth held shut. The woman was transported to the Medical College of Georgia Hospital emergency room.

No charges have been filed.

how many rapes are reported
Unpublished

how many rapes are reported in richmond county every month? why did this one make the cut? how is it no charges were filed? when would they be filed? is it so unusual to report a day later? or is it the bizarre twist of the locking in with the wife present that makes this a story? or is it meant to be something else? are all rape reports written up in this paper?

I would certainly like to

I would certainly like to know why there were no charges filed as well. It is not unusual for a rape to not be reported right away. But this should certainly be investigated further - both husband and wife should be questioned.

Rape is a serious charge and

Rape is a serious charge and because so much slander extortion is going on they have to be investigated carefully otherwise the police become part of the slander extortionist plan. The slanderer can even have consentual sex then turn around and say “if you don't buy me a bunch of pills or give me a bunch of money I’ll tell the police you raped me” and because they really did have sex with them the accused goes to jail. It is because of the abuse of the rape laws by a few, many now are questioned more carefully before charges can be filed. The slander extortion PLAGUE caused this...
