The shooting stemmed from a fight earlier the night of Sept. 15 at Club 5150 on the 2800 block of Deans Bridge Road. One half of the group fighting left but returned about 1:30 a.m., and shots were fired from a car window at a group of people standing outside the club’sdoor.
One of the bullets went through the club’s door and hit Ashley Brown in the head.
“She never knew what hit her,” Assistant District Attorney John O’Neal said. O’Neal named Dachavous Murphy, 19 – who is charged with murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and making false statements in a government matter – as the shooter.
“Obviously he is a significant threat if he likes to shoot guns into a crowd,” O’Neal said.
The car reportedly belonged to Murphy’s co-defendant, Robert Wright, who is charged with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. Wright was also scheduled for a bond hearing Friday, but that was moved to a later date because his attorney was not present.
