A former school secretary was sentenced Wednesday to 18 years in prison for sex crimes against pupils. Tiffiny Robinson must also serve 12 years of probation upon her release from incarceration.

That sentence was already agreed upon when Robinson arrived in court on Wednesday, but more than 30 family and friends of both the victim and of Robinson packed the courtroom in hopes of swaying Superior Court Judge Carlisle Overstreet’s decision.

In making her apology, Robinson said she didn’t believe she deserved a full 18 years in prison, in part because her two young children needed her.

The mother of the 14-year-old girl who Robinson befriended decried her plea for leniency, saying she’s seen no remorse from Robinson until this day.

“I think she deserves every last bit of time she gets,” the woman said, pounding the podium with her fist for emphasis.

Assistant District Attorney Kim Easterling told Overstreet on Wednesday that Robinson helped the 15-year-old young man in the case find his classroom during his first day at Collins Elementary School. A relationship developed from that point, with Robinson calling him and communicating with him through a Facebook page she created using a student’s name, Easterling said.

Robinson also befriended two girls, one of whom is listed as a victim in the case, although the indictment says Robinson never molested her. Robinson was also the assistant girls basketball coach at the school.

Easterling said Robinson took the victims out to the movies and bought them gifts; she used her position as administrative secretary to allow them to get out of class. At one point, Robinson and the young man were seen kissing in the stairwell, Easterling said.

“She is in fact a child predator … and she used her authority to manipulate all of them,” Easterling said.

Robinson’s family spoke on her behalf, describing her as a good and trustworthy person. Sabrina Washington called Robinson a caring and giving person.

“Perhaps she was just too compassionate with these children,” she said.

I never understood WHY the child's part is never taken into account in cases like this.

YET, I KNOW the sec. knew good and dang well what she was doing. But 18 years? c'mon now. . .this reminds me of the case where the mom ran over her son (lol) and was held in jail without bond.

18 years??? Like one eight. AND she has children...

How uch time did Letourneau

How uch time did Letourneau serve in a similar situation? 5 years or so? How much time would have been handed out if the genders/ages were reversed?

She is a pedophile who openly

She is a pedophile who openly preys on young teens, who seems from the evidence to have groomed at least one since an early age. I think that 18 years is not sufficient. Were she a man, people would be screaming for castration. She misused her position of trust to seduce children. I have no more sympathy for her than I do for the 21 year old male who had sex with the 14 year old girl. As for her having young children, she should have thought of their welfare before she started on this grooming and sexual pursuit of these kids. Who is to say her own children are safe? Many sexual predators of children often abuse their own children. Keep her in there.

The Letourneau case was a

The Letourneau case was a miscarriage of justice. Also Letourneau only had relations with one student whom she later married. This woman not only pursued multiple students' but set up a bogus FB page to lure them in.

Letourneau was also a fine looking young caucasian woman. Just wondering how much that biased the judgement.

Most likely a lot. However I

Most likely a lot. However I think the money her family spent on excellent lawyers meant more. Most shady judicial deals now days are economic. Look at the income levels of certain locals who have gotten off scott free with dealing cocaine and how many who fall below the poverty line sit in jail for personal possession of weed.

Good riddance.

Good riddance. Unfortunately, due to her inability to follow the law, now we taxpayers have to support her for 18 years. What is prison - about $100,000 per year per prisoner?

1) What is a 15 year old

1) What is a 15 year old doing going to glass at Collins Elementary?
2)How is the the girl a victim if she wasn't molested?
3)How old is the defendant?
4)18 years? Seriously? People get less time for murder.

zombie - the article was a

zombie - the article was a little awkwardly worded, most likely to fit it in where it needed to go. The boy was not 15 when he was AT Collins, she MET him as a small child when he first got to Collins and seems to have groomed him from there. The text implies that she began grooming him in elementary school. This is a very long sentence - I would like to know how long she had been having sexual relations with that boy. She also set up a FB book account in a student's name in order to carry on her sexual relationship with the boy and lure others. She signed students out of class to see them and was caught with a boy in a stairwell in the school. This woman is a monster. Were she a male "youth" pastor who had engaged in the same behavior would you have the same leniency? I'm glad the parent's of all her victims packed the court room.

Why does she not have to

Why does she not have to register as a sex offender? Probably because they used the first offender act as part of the plea bargain!

Why does this elementary school go to 8th grade? They have middle schools for 6, 7 and 8. Is this the only one that does this around here?

As to the 18 years, it seems justified since their were multiple cases and possibly others who didn't come forward.

What I want to know is why

What I want to know is why this lady got 18 years and the teach in Florida didnt do a day in jail bc her laywer said she was to "PRETTY" to be in jail..so the judge just gave her probation and what about the teach in California who didnt go to jail either until a later date..I mean is the system bias towards blacks when they commit the same crimes a whites..not trying to say this woman was right for what she did but if 2 white teacher can bear children with the under age teens and get probation..why couldnt this black teacher recieve the same punishment..supervise probation..Just wondering..1 wrong dont make 2 right in same cases..

i've been warned about comments on this forum about race, etc. but this is nutz! this isn't racism but insanity! 18 years for this? this is so over the top it doesn't even fit the race baiting argument. if black leaders want a case to protest, this is it! you might get ole whitey's support on this one. unlike the cop murderers.

Jammer, for the record, if

Jammer, for the record, if you are talking about Letorneau; who had a 15yo's baby, then at least have your facts straight. She served 7 years of her sentence (don't know what the original sentence was)

Not saying either one is more or less guilty, but she didn't walk.

If you search Richmond

If you search Richmond County's BOE website you'll see that Collins Elem as well a few others are elementary schools that go through 8th grade. So, yes, the 15 year old was a student there.

Yes, all the children

Yes, all the children involved where 8th grade students at Collins and yes Collins does now go to the 8th grade!!!

To clear some things up...Robinson WILL HAVE TO REGISTER AS A SEX OFFENDER once she is released from prison!!!

For everyone who says that her sentence is harse, well she pled guilty to the charges & agreed to that sentence. Why because she knew she was guilty, now she could have went in front of the jury & probably gotten less time.
