Two men charged in Augusta club shooting death

  • Follow Crime & courts

Two men were charged Friday night in the fatal shooting of Ashley Dandrea Brown on Sept. 15 at a club on Deans Bridge Road.

Dachavous Monterro Damon Murphy, 19, of the 1100 block of Peters Road, and Robert Levert Wright, 24, of the 2000 block of Walker Street, were charged with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. Murphy was also charged with giving a false statement.

Brown was found dead inside the doorway to Club 5150 at 2864 Deans Bridge Road in Augusta with a gunshot wound to the head. Shots were fired shortly before 2 a.m. in the parking lot as patrons were escorted outside after a fight broke out inside the club.

Both suspects, who were arrested about 7:30 p.m., are being held in the Augusta-Richmond County jail.

Brown was Richmond County’s 16th homicide of the year.

I am very proud, that those with information, came forward to help law enforcement. It is my prayer, that if guilty, they receive the maximum sentence, that the law allows.
