The 5-foot tall bronze statue of a woman was removed from a fountain in the shopping plaza off Highland Avenue on Sept. 11.

Brown said an unknown man returned the statue to the shopping center last week after claiming he discovered it in a ditch off Berckmans Road.

Authorities do not have reason to believe the man who returned the statue is a suspect.

The statue was undamaged.

The situation here is interesting. Instead of that statue a live human could have been "stolen" form Surrey Center. Now that the economy has tanked I expect we will see more kidnappings and abductions going on in affluent areas like Surrey Center. Does anyone remember Lyndale Hunter?
