A woman accused of stealing $850 worth of merchandise from Macy’s with the help of her 16-year-old daughter received a sentence of six years probation on Wednesday.

Maxine Leverett was indicted May 24 on charges of theft by shoplifting and contributing to the delinquency of a minor for the incident at the Augusta Mall.

An indictment says she enlisted her daughter’s help to steal six shirts, three pairs of pants, seven pairs of jeans, five dresses and four tank tops.

Not her first felony theft, 4
Unpublished

Not her first felony theft, 4 times already in prison, short stays for each of the multiple felonies at different times, now involves her child and gets probation???????? 13 different aliases, so these times caught aren't the only ones shes done. No wonder these crooks never learn their lesson!!!!

Note on the case says "NOTICE OF STATE'S INTENT TO SEEK RECIDIVIST PUNISHMENT" 6 years probation???? What bleeding heart judge with the common sense of a turnip handed down this sentence?

seenit, thats not nearly enough punishment for a record like this lady for over a decade. She needed more than the couple months she got each time she got caught. Yeah, jail for a couple months multiple times didn't work, then she gets minors to help so lets just give her probation and try that. How backwards is that????? lol

If GaStang22's info above is

If GaStang22's info above is right, this is a ridiculous slap on the hand, maybe more like a pat on the hand. Does anyone know what judge sentenced her? This is why there are so many crooks on the street, doesn't sound like she's going to change, why would she if she gets off scot-free!

Augusta citizen, I'm going by
Unpublished

Augusta citizen, I'm going by the info off the Augusta gov website and Ga dept of corrections, so unless they are wrong, this sentence is disgusting and the judge needs to be looked at seriously!!!!! It says the Judge is Overstreet, but that could just be in the prelims, because they do not have it updated with the sentence yet, so it doesn't necessarily mean he did the sentencing or maybe he did. I will keep looking. This is exactly why I usually call our justice system a joke and why we have so many criminals and repeat offenders. Thank a bleeding heart today for ruining our country and putting scum ahead of innocent law abiding citizens. Her next victim should sue the government, all victims of these repeat offenders who get ridiculous sentences should, maybe they will get the picture. Not that I want the taxpayers to pay, well maybe just the bleeding hearts that support this mess, but something has got to give!!! lol

Was this the same judge that

Was this the same judge that just gave 1 year probation for a DUI driver trying to run over a deputy sheriff and then failing to stop for blue lights?

This isn't justice, it's more of a joke!

Judge Overstreet understands that the mother can't go back to prison right now. She has to train her daughter properly.

She is like the lady that

She is like the lady that left her child in Foodlion when caught shoplifting. A year later she gets a years probation and 30 days in jail for this. And she was already on probation for shoplifting all over town. She should have been sent to prison along time ago. And she has been locked up twice since she was sentenced.

Really?? You are cheering on a career criminal who stooped so low as to involve her kid?? And we wonder why the kids are growing up so bad, look at the parents of most of them, Lord help them, because obviously parents like this won't!! I'm mean you really think this is ok?? Geesh

Judge Overstreet strikes

Judge Overstreet strikes again...seems like the only justice he doles out is when it is someone breaking into his home....at least he got that one right.
