The homicide Sunday at the Augusta State Medical Prison was the result of a stabbing, but the Georgia Bureau of Investigation released no other information Tuesday.

A spokeswoman for the Georgia Department of Corrections said she would not release any information while the case is under investigation, including the identity of the victim.

Mike Ayers, special agent in charge of this area’s GBI bureau, said he was called to the jail Sunday around 4 p.m. to begin investigating the homicide.
