An Atlanta man reported he was brutally beaten two months ago at Augusta State Medical Prison and left with 45 staples in his head and a black eye, according to a Richmond County sheriff's report filed Monday.

The victim, David Lawton, 29, made the report about the June 15 incident post-release at the Holiday Inn on the 2100 block of Gordon Highway.
Lawton said five men, Travis Norman, 23, Xavier Smith, 19, Vincent Wells, Shikia Hardy, 22 and Johnny Holiday, 41, attacked him from behind while he was standing at a urinal, a report states.
He said they hit him with their fists and with locks tied to shoe strings, then took all of his belongings from his locker: a pair of sneakers; a white robe; $150 worth of food; and $30 in towels, sock and underwear, according to a report.
The reporting deputy said he saw several lacerated scars on Lawton's head. Lawton plans to press charges of simple battery and theft by taking.

The deputy saw scars? Why

The deputy saw scars? Why didn't they see the results of the fresh beating?

Willow, the man reported to

Willow, the man reported to the deputy something that happened two months ago. He's probably healed up quite a bit, especially as young as he is.

Seems like there is more to

Seems like there is more to the story than an incident report after the guy gets out. I hope Kyle is enroute to the prison with his open records request to find out what really happened. If he had all of those staples in his head and a black eye there should be some records.

Fiat, I missed making my

Fiat, I missed making my point in that he had to look pretty rough after his beating in the jail and someone in law enforcement saw it. I guess what is not said is ignored unless it grows into a lawsuit. Sort of a don't ask, don't tell thing.
