Metal stolen from Augusta recycling center

Authorities are searching for the thieves who broke into the CMC Recycling Center on the 1800 block of Old Savannah Road on Wednesday night.

The burglars were caught on camera removing wooden planks from the fence then using pieces of rubber hose to breech the electric fence. They then broke into the non-ferrous shed and stole copper and other non-ferrous metals, according to Richmond County sheriff’s Investigator Kendall Brown.

This is the third time the recycling center has been broken into, Brown said.
