Unpublished

Probably consensual sex with an underage person. Sometimes this law is used by parents to punish a b/f they don't like.

That is the problem with sex

That is the problem with sex offender registration. It lumps kids having sex with kids into the same boat at guys hanging out at playgrounds to molest little girls. So now, when you hear a sex offender is in your neighborhood, the tendency is to not worry about it because it could be for something completely innocuous. I am an attorney and I actually had a client convicted of a sexual offense for taking a book and lilfting up a co-worker's skirt. Not that he shouldn't be punished but technically it is a sexual assault and he is now a registered sex offender. These laws are absurd.

Unpublished

I know of a case where a 20 year old was dating a 15 year old and she became pregnant. When they told her parents that she was pregnant and wanted to get married the police were called and he was arrested. Even over the objections of their daughter. He was sentenced to jail time even though the daughter told them she would marry him when he was released. So they, in a sense, ruined their grandchild's father's life with bitterness. This law is archaic and teenage girls are a lot more aggressive than they were 30 years ago. It's time to upgrade this law with a special circumstance for consensual sex. I'm not sure what the age should be but this is way different than a sexual predator.
