Child molester guilty, receives life sentence

  • Follow Crime & courts

An Augusta man was sentenced to life in prison Wednesday after a jury returned a guilty verdict against him for aggravated child molestation charges.

Hubert Lathery was indicted on charges that he molested a girl younger than age 10 over two years, beginning in October 2007. His trial ended with a life sentence for rape, followed by consecutive sentences of 70 years. The jury was hung, and a mistrial declared, on one of the charges, Assistant District Attorney Adam King said.

I'm sorry but none of y'all

I'm sorry but none of y'all know what happened so don't sit there and say the comments y'all are saying. This man has been wrongly accused and will never be able to see his newborn sone or his other 2 children so don't sit there and say "bubba is waiting" because ethis man is gonna spend the rest of his life in prison for something he would never do nor did. Thank you!

Talk about casting stones.

Talk about casting stones. It's sad that people can have so much hate for someone they don't even know. All but one of you have assumed that this man is guilty, even though you don't know the circumstances or the details of the case. This man was wrongly accussed and sentenced to life for something he didn't do. How would you feel if it were you who now had to spend life in prison, knowing that you were innocent, knowing that you would never get to spend another day with your family, your children? Or what if it was someone you loved who was convicted? Don't be so quick to judge someone you don't know based solely on what you read or hear. Most of it isn't true anyway.
