A 16-year-old was in a leg monitor when he broke into a Richmond County sheriff's deputy's home and took his county-issued gun, according to Sgt. Bill Leisey.
The juvenile was arrested in Richmond County in early March in connection with 23 burglaries. However, he was soon released by the Department of Juvenile Justice with a leg monitor, Leisey said.
He has now been rearrested in connection with the burglary of the deputy's Augusta home and two other locations.
The gun was not recovered.

pom, it looks like I posted between the original time and the update. I agree with you on the justice system in general. I posted on the Richmond Tribunals saying that the guys who brought guns to school should go to jail rather than the alternative school but I see that this is a prime example of how that would do no good. (:
The company that issues those leg monitors DOES NOT monitor. I said that before on a previous article.
Has any competent, disinterested, out-of-state agency ever subjected the GA DJJ to the scrutiny of a performance audit whose results were issued directly to the taxpayers of Georgia through the internet as well as through statewide print and electronic media?
Every time you pay your taxes some part is used illegally to damage the community like this.
I agree, sarahmiller. He should never have been released. 23 burglaries, I don't care if he is 16. He's an incorrigible and needs to be taken out.
When we lost our families, we lost a lot of kids. That is to say, when government stepped in and thought it could take the place of a functioning family, we started rapidly spiraling down in our society.
