A grand jury has reindicted a man for the 2009 slaying of Robert Lee Stone Jr. in 2009. Stone was killed on Sept. 10, 2009 at a Circle K gas station on Gordon Highway. Joseph Andrew Thomas was indicted on 28 counts including murder and armed robbery, according to court documents. He was arrested on Sept. 15, 2009 after a brief foot chase with Richmond County deputies near Haynie Drive. Thomas is currently incarcerated in Hancock State Prison where he is serving a 20-year sentence for aggravated assault in Richmond County. District Attorney Ashley Wright said the case was reindicted this week so some of the language in the original indictment could be "tightened up."
