An Augusta man was shot as he was riding his bicycle in the 2000 block of Richmond Avenue early Sunday morning, police said.
The victim told the Richmond County Sheriff's Office that he heard several gunshots as he was riding his bicycle home about 1:20 a.m.
Once there, he found he had been shot in the buttocks with an unknown-caliber gun, an incident report says.
He was taken by his mother to University Hospital and treated for the gunshot wound.
What a horrible world we now have to live in, and one wonders - why?
Best wishes to the young man - may he heal quickly and totally.
Why? Did he know the people? Or is this just another case of some idiot using a bicyclist for target practice?
Maybe another 'Operation Fox Hunt' is in order. There still seems to be a lot of weapons in the wrong hands around here. The violence seems to be never-ending around here.
Well, I guess there are worse places to get shot. Glad he is OK.
Criminals hate folks who shoot back.

Do ya think riding a bike at 1:20 a.m. is the smartest move?
I feel bad that he got shot but on the other hand... he said he heard gun shots... how did he not know he had been shot in the butt???? Something about that just sounds fishy to me.
My butt gets sore just riding my bike. I'm pretty sure I would realize it if I was shot in the fanny. Very glad he is o.k. though!
