Authorities are investigating what led to the death of a 9-week-old baby Monday.
According to Richmond County sheriff's Lt. Calvin Chew, deputies arrived at the infant's home in the 500 block of Wrights Avenue to find the infant, Gabrial Drew, and her 3-year-old sibling had been living in unfit conditions. The home has roaches, dog feces and urine, and moldy food, Chew said. The report indicated there was also a bucket of human feces.
The children's mother, Annie R. Hyman, 22, was arrested Tuesday and charged with two counts of deprivation of a minor. Bond has been set at $25,000.
Autopsy results on Gabrial were inconclusive, according to Richmond County Coroner Grover Tuten, and toxicology and histology results are pending.
