The Aiken County Sheriff's Office is asking for help finding a man they say sexually assaulted two girls for more than seven years -- including at least one attack that occurred at knife-point.

According to a news release, Harold Bennon Cartwright III, 45, last known to live in the 600 block of Winter Place Drive in Trenton, S.C., is wanted in connection with the assaults on girls younger than 16.

The office holds 12 warrants for his arrest, for offenses including criminal sexual conduct with a minor and eight counts of lewd act on a child. He is considered dangerous, according to a bulletin on the sheriff's Web site.

The warrants allege he inappropriately touched, performed sexual acts on or had intercourse with the girls in separate incidents between Oct. 17, 2003, and Feb. 7, 2011, in North Augusta, Clearwater and Trenton.

One warrant says that between Oct. 16, 2006, and Oct. 17, 2007, Cartwright pushed a victim onto a couch, put a knife to her throat and stomach, and forced her to have sex with him in a North Augusta home.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the sheriff's office at (800) 922-9709 or Crime Stoppers at (888) 274-6372.

The story says they saw him

The story says they saw him sexually assaulting the girls.....Why didn't they arrest him then? More amateur reporting from the AC.

Throw him under the jail!!!

Throw him under the jail!!! It's sad that this went on for so long before someone found out. We gotta talk to our children and let them know it's ok to tell and that we will protect them. They should have more in the school systems to help prepare children on how to handle and talk about these situations the first time it happens.... SEVEN years gosh that just breaks my heart to know that these girls had to endure the horror of this for so long. What can we do??? Any one, Everyone lets come together as parents and try to do something about this!!!! This has got to stop! STOP MOLESTING OUR CHILDREN SICKO"S !!!!!

"We gotta talk to our

"We gotta talk to our children and let them know it's ok to tell and that we will protect them."

When it's your parent or relative, who will protect you? There is no way that I could live with someone and not know that they were molesting children. The family members know at some level, they just ignore it. No child can act normal when something that horrendous is happening. "Protection" means being taken away from your family and put in foster care, and no child wants that. They just want the molestation to stop.

And many people are deeply reluctant to call the police on a family member, for many reasons.

"They should have more in the school systems to help prepare children on how to handle and talk about these situations the first time it happens.... "

There IS no way for a child to handle it. The child tells, the adult denies it, and then the child has to live with that horrendous situation.
