Robbery death suspects arrested

Two men were arrested Friday on charges that they robbed Dustin Lunsford and choked him to death on Tuesday.

Christopher Price, 24, of the 1900 block of Starnes Street, was arrested around 1 p.m. at a home on the 2900 block of Ulm Road in Hephzibah. Hours later, around 6 p.m., deputies arrested Billy Smith, 28, at Belmont Avenue and Easy Street in Augusta.

Smith, of the 1100 block of Piney Grove Road, and Price are each charged with murder, armed robbery, kidnapping and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Sheriff's Lt. Calvin Chew said Price knew Lunsford and that the homicide occurred during a fight in Lunsford's room at the Savannah Suites on Wrightsboro Road, across from the Augusta Mall. He said the death occurred between 4 a.m. and 5 a.m.

The main motive was to rob Lunsford, Chew said.
