Lincolnton man kills wife, self

  • Follow Crime & courts

LINCOLNTON, Ga. --- Lincoln County authorities are investigating the deaths of a man and woman found in a home Monday morning.

The bodies of Chris Holloway, 53, and his wife, Pamela LeRoy Holloway, 37, were discovered by Lincoln County Sheriff's Office personnel at their home shortly after 8 a.m.

Family members notified authorities after hearing shots fired from the home at 1973 Indian Road in Lincolnton, according to Mike Ayers, special agent in charge of the regional Georgia Bureau of Investigation's office in Thomson.

Authorities said the incident is the result of a domestic dispute that turned ugly when Chris Holloway shot his wife to death before turning the gun on himself.

It was not known whether Chris Holloway had any history of domestic violence.

"This is unusual for us," Sheriff Gerald Lawson said of the deaths. "But I want my community to know that they should feel safe. This is still a safe community to live in."

The bodies have been sent to the GBI's lab in Augusta for autopsy.

The homicide was the first in Lincoln County in more than five years. The last one occurred in February 2005.

Rickie F. Lavender Sr., 44, was shot to death by Lawrence Curtis Evans Jr., of Elberton, Ga.

Looks like we are up to 39

Looks like we are up to 39 and 40 for homicides in the CSRA for 2010 now. As Kasey Kasim used to say, "and the hits just keep on coming!"

Apparent murder/suicide.

Apparent murder/suicide. Can't blame this one on "community crime".

Murder/suicide? Not sure how

Murder/suicide? Not sure how we can assume that... Seems like overkill to send in the GBI for that. This isn't Richmond county, but it is in the CSRA.

It does seem kind of weird to

It does seem kind of weird to ask for the GBI this soon after the finding. Perhaps the sheriff uses the GBI in order to keep his expenses down. He can have the state taxpayers pay for routine local crime investigation. Sweet deal.

Statistics show that during

Statistics show that during holiday seasons, the number of deaths increase. Whether its stress related, financial, boredom, crime or suicide. With an economy trying to recover, I hate to say it, but the numbers will increase. We all need prayers now, because it could be either one of us; you never know.

Einstein, if that is your

Einstein, if that is your real name, the I in GBI is for investigations. They investigate deaths all of the time so using them is normal (not overkill). And for assuming anything, remember that Austin has people in Lincoln county.

Reading all your comments is

Reading all your comments is very disturbing. These were two wonderful people who have a great loving family. Instead of focusing on your "crime stats" you should be praying for the kids and grandkids that are with out them for the holidays. Humility goes a very long way. My prayers are with the family.

Prayers to the family. It is

Prayers to the family. It is common in smaller departments to use the GBI in crimes such as murder and/or to investigate suspicious deaths. When it rarely occurs in your area, it is better to use your resourses elsewhere and rely on the experts from the GBI because that is what they are there for.

Yes, prayers to this family.

Yes, prayers to this family. Negativity is the plight of miserable people who want all others to be miserable too. These people have loved ones left behind who need uplifting. Please, now and then leave the politics out of it.

I hate this. And right before the holidays. Not that there is a good time to lose a loved one, but from now on Thanksgiving will not be a happy memory for the families. I hope that the community will give them all the support that they can.

Murder statistics and

Murder statistics and speculation aside..An only child, a 17 year old daughter who is an honor student is left behind. Her worries are that she won't have parents at her high school graduation or a dad to walk her down the isle when she gets married. Appreciate every precious moment we have here on this earth because a moment can change everything.

I personally know the girl

I personally know the girl she is one of my sisters very best friend and to think this has happened to her just before the holidays is horrible. This will bring back bad memories for the rest of her life during the holidays the time we r supposed to be happy and spend it with the ones you love. To think some of you are more concerned with the crime stats is sick. This girl will not have her mother or father to help her get ready for her graduation to help her get ready for prom. She wont have them there to help her move in on her first day of college she wont have them to call when she is having a hard time to adjust being away from home. She wont have anyone there to talk when she needs a mothers advice. Its a tragedy and all you people are worrired about is how it will effect the crime report.

There are other daughters as well as grandchildren involved. One of those daughters is a very dear friend of mine, who was extremely close to her Dad, & loved her Stepmother dearly. She is having a very hard time with this, as is the rest of the family. Please keep the entire family in your prayers & do away with the negative comments.
