Thomson man admits to slayings in 2 states

A 29-year-old Thomson man has confessed to weekend robberies and slayings in Georgia and North Carolina, officials say.

Cedric Theodis "Scooter" Hobbs admitted to the crimes Monday under questioning by North Carolina authorities , McDuffie County sheriff's Investigator Al Reeves said Tuesday.

Hobbs, a construction worker, is accused of robbing and shooting Rondriako "Ron" Burnett, 22, who is McDuffie County's first homicide victim of 2010.

Burnett's body was discovered about noon Saturday in a ditch off the dirt portion of Dearing Acres Road.

Police say the same gun used in that shooting was later used in the robbery and slaying Saturday of a 19-year-old pawn shop clerk in Fayetteville, N.C.
