Mother reports son's illegal arm tattoo

  • Follow Crime & courts

A mother reported Tuesday that her 16-year-old son was illegally tattooed by an artist at Broad Image Tattoo on Saturday, according to a Richmond County sheriff's report.

Her son kept the large tattoo on the back of his left arm hidden for several days because he knew his mother would not approve and would be "very upset with him," a report said.

The teenager said the unidentified tattoo artist didn't ask him for ID and did it for free because he wanted to show his friends and other people the kind of work he could do, a report said.

I think we should raise the age limit on getting tattoos from 18 to 98 -- that way it would be easier to tell when people are under age.

I suppose if the government could license tattoo artist, they could license other artist. They would probably like to license newspaper reporters and radio talk show hosts. They could keep them under control then.

"Free Speech" could be a Public Mental Health issue. There are a lot of people on the left trying to demonize Glenn Beck for teaching American History on his TV show. People on the left think the public needs to be protected from Glenn Beck's ideas.

I think the tattoo businesses

I think the tattoo businesses should probably be license by the local health department as a food business would and inspected from time to time.

I totally agree different drum! This a HEALTH issue, and it is a parents job to keep their children as safe as possible. This child is at fault too. More parents need to take care of their kids and make them responsible for their actions!

Farmboy, get real! When your son is of legal age, that would be fine, if that is his choice. A 16 year old is still a BOY! Hence, the law stating it is illegal to tattoo anyone under the age of 18....

I don't like the fact that this business put a tattoo on a 16 year old without the parents’ permission. I would think there would be some law already on the books to cover this sort of thing without making any new ones. The mother could always sue.

Absurd...althought I don't

Absurd...althought I don't think 16 year olds need to be getting tatoos, you can legally get an abortion without the consent of your parent in Georgia prior to age 18. Parental notification is required by law but not consent. So, no tatoo's until you are 18 but if you wish to take a human life, go ahead....amazing the world we live in.

Asitisinaug- yes, asitis, and that is true because of rape and incest.

And rape and incest happens far more often than people want to think.

Do you not understand that? I don't consider that amazing, I consider that sick and disgusting and terrible.

"Getting a tattoo is part of

"Getting a tattoo is part of being a man."

So if a tat "artist" draws horns and a devils beard on your sons face for laughs and giggles and your boy is too young to understand this isn't going to “wash off” you're cool with that?

How bought henna??? Then he can change it. Putting something on your body at that age that will hold you back for the rest of your days is a cruel joke.

Tatted up folks indicate they may lack good judgement. They may not be able to control impulses. At least that’s the general perception.

Removable tattoo ink. A company founded by Doctors!
The ink is applied just as with any tattoo, and will remain in place as long as desired. But if the owner later decides that the artwork has to go, it can be removed fully and safely with a single laser treatment.

yes, i agree that this man

yes, i agree that this man should not be doing underage tatoos!!!! that is why there is a legal age limit on things. but i don't think it should have been taken to this extreme. whether you're 16 or 18, 18 or 21, whether the law says its right or wrong.. people are always going to do it. why is it such a big deal that he got it now? it's not like he is going to change his mind when he is 18 and even if he does then that is his consequence of having something permanently on his body. go to the bahamas, if you can pay for it then you can get it. why is this made into such a HUGE deal? when it could have been handled within the household between the parents and not out to be the world business.
