Standoff at Thomson motel ends peacefully

  • Follow Crime & courts

Authorities say a man believed to be a robbery suspect from South Carolina surrendered peacefully after a three-hour standoff at a Thomson motel.

Mike Ayers, of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, said 40-year-old Harold Randall McDaniels, of Orangeburg, was a suspect in a holdup.
The standoff began around 11:30 a.m. Monday when deputies tried to serve a warrant on McDaniels at the motel.

Ayers said a SWAT team negotiator in the Richmond County Sheriff's Office talked McDaniels into coming out of the room.

Twenty-five to 30 law enforcement officers from McDuffie and Richmond counties had gathered at the motel.

A handful of customers was evacuated from the motel and a nearby Arby's restaurant.

Hmmm.....well since Thomson

Hmmm.....well since Thomson is more than a one-motel town, you MUST know which one is next to Arby's in order to know which motel is being spoken of!
