  • Follow Crime & courts

A suspected drunken driver crashed into a U.S. Postal Service truck Thursday afternoon, then fled the scene at Seymour Drive and Mae Street, according to a North Augusta Public Safety report.

Officers said they found the suspect's Chevrolet Impala parked in a yard on nearby Crestlyn Drive about 1:15 p.m. and neighbors holding the driver, Keith Washington.

Washington, 24, of the 1200 block of Melody Lane, reportedly told officers he had drunk three beers and smoked marijuana before getting behind the wheel.

He was arrested on suspicion of DUI, driving without a license and fleeing the scene of an accident.

No injuries were reported.
