Gunshot leads police to pot, stolen firearm

  • Follow Crime & courts

Deputies say they recovered a stolen firearm and bags of marijuana after a man accidently shot the gun into a neighbor's apartment.

The gunshot happened around 11:30 a.m. at CedarWood Apartments in the 500 block of Richmond Hill Road West.

An investigation found that the bullet had traveled from the suspect's bathroom through two walls in his apartment and through two walls of the neighboring apartment, a report shows.

No one was hurt, but deputies say the gun was reported stolen in Richmond County and that they found bags of marijuana in the pocket of Gregory Brown, who was arrested on charges of reckless conduct, theft by receiving and possession of marijuana.

Was it theft by receiving, or

Was it theft by receiving, or plain theft? I assume he told police who he bought the gun from, if not he is the thief. If he did tell who the seller was, then why not print that thiefs name?

Add another charge of

Add another charge of "conspiracy to commit a deadly crime" pot and gun equal a very good chance of shooting someone. Or how about the use of a firearm in the commission of a crime?

The war on drugs is nearly as

The war on drugs is nearly as big of a failure as the war on poverty. They are both big government failures and America's refusal to adopt a policy of personal responsibility.

Slash the jugular of the drug

Slash the jugular of the drug trade by regulating pot, then idiots like this won't be able to afford bullets. You say it's regulated? When a 10 yr old kid can walk down the street and buy all the pot he wants THAT means it is NOT regulated. The only way to regulate it is to take it off the streets and put it behind the drug counter and require a prescription for it or some other control as now it is out of CONTROL would you not agree?

Also the fact that it is ten times harder to buy hollow points is placing the public in great danger. Many gunshots that folk get hit by are rounds that have traveled great distances and through many things because they have a copper jacket. Hollow points hit one item, mushroom out and stop most times inside the first thing they hit. They don’t continue on & on as jacketed rounds do. They also have greater stopping power. This one change would make guns & the public much safer. The response to safety for the tax payer by the tax users was met with the following response. Crickets, crickets, crickets...

Allowing ordinary American

Allowing ordinary American citizens to grow a little marijuana in their own backyards will carve the guts out of the drug gangs, get the drug cartels out of our communities, put an end to most of the border violence, and reduce illegal immigration.

Put an end to the drug cartels. Legalize marijuana and let ordinary Americans grow a little marijuana in their own back yards.
