Inmate takes pickup, escapes work detail

  • Follow Crime & courts

A state prison inmate stole a pickup and fled from a work detail near Thomson on Monday morning.

McDuffie County sheriff's Maj. Ronnie Williamson said Tommy Ray Woodruff, 30, of Cherokee County, Ga., is white, 6 feet 4 inches tall and weighs 165 pounds. He has short brown hair and green eyes and was last seen driving a 2006 Chevrolet 1500.

The truck, which belongs to the McDuffie County Roads and Bridges Department, was stolen from a work detail about 10:45 a.m. Monday, according to sheriff's Investigator Larry Adaway.

Woodruff was most recently convicted of carrying a concealed weapon, possession of methamphetamine and forgery in the first degree, Williamson said.

Too funny, Veggie! Gots to

Too funny, Veggie!

Gots to wonder what kind of bozo this guy is that he would book from a pre-release center. He couldn't have had too much time left, and he was being allowed out on work details. Now he's not going to have nearly as much fun being in the clink, once they catch his sorry behind.
