Man reports robbery outside furniture store

  • Follow Crime & courts

An Augusta man told Richmond County sheriff's deputies that he was robbed at gunpoint about 3 a.m. Saturday in a tent outside Weinberger's Furniture, 3137 Washington Road, according to an incident report.

Eric Roth said a man with his face covered by a shirt pointed a handgun at his head, took his laptop and fled on foot, the report said.

No I am not blaming the

No I am not blaming the victim, but people put themselves in bad situations all the time. I would think that if he was a security guard that would have been mentioned.

That's strange huh? I guess they leave the tents up if they are having a sale the next day or something? That's interesting.

Augusta ain't a nice place

Augusta ain't a nice place after that sun goes down. Carry... and use it. Until criminals start getting mopped up by the cops, instead of chased, their kind won't think twice. Half the fun for them is probably the chase.

This city really, really needs to rethink it's attitude towards guns. Everyone who's not a criminal needs to carry one, every day, everywhere they go... and not be questioned about it nor given dirty looks by soccer moms or sissy boys who don't. Criminals basically have free run of this town, regular people, not the RCSO, are the ones who will stop them. Carry people, carry.

I am sure that the security

I am sure that the security guard would not have been robbed if he had carried a 12 gauge! However, I am sure the store has a policy about not carrying weapons because they are more afraid of being sued, than they are for the safety of the guard. I mean afterall it is easier to replace a person than it is to fight a lawsuit being paid for by taxpayers.

It's the west side of

It's the west side of Augusta, that's why it wasn't mentioned. If it doesn't happen on the south side of Augusta/Richmond County or the east side, or in or near Hephzibah, the direction is rarely mentioned. They don't want the bad press.
