Investigators talk at the entrance to the woods where two people were found shot to death Monday. A police captain said he didn't believe the bodies had been there long.

Jeramie Anthony Hammonds, 20, and Kayla Marie Wells, 19, were found at 1:53 p.m. along wooded trails by people riding four-wheelers, according to Richmond County sheriff's Capt. Scott Peebles.

The unmarried couple lived at Wells' house in the 4500 block of Greystone Circle in Hephzibah.

Both had multiple gunshot wounds, Peebles said.

"They haven't been there long. I'd say within the last 24 hours," he said.

Investigators said they were questioning several people Monday night but would not release further details.

Traffic in the 2900 block of Glenn Hills Drive -- across from Glenn Hills Middle School -- was diverted for hours Monday as sheriff's vehicles lined the road near the beginning of the path.

Before the victims were identified, authorities released details of their tattoos -- including a depiction of the Disney character Tinker Bell on Wells' leg and the numbers 211 on Hammond's abdomen -- in an effort to determine who they were.

Peebles said a family member heard reports about the body art and called investigators.

OnlyinAgs said: he's a WHITE OLD MAN in his late 60s, who has this cursed generational mentality birthed in him about black people

As you accuse him you are doing the same by grouping all white old man in their 60's in the same category. I am white and I am 66 yrs old.
I do not fall into the category that you place all white males in their late 60's. I judge a person on what they are, not what race they are. You seem to have alot more hatred than I have in my little finger.

This is terrible. Millions

This is terrible. Millions for the TEE center developers, none for the Sheriff's department.

This is not something that just happens. Sounds like someone was settling a debt, or this is robbery, or something else..

Terrible,

Brad

Keeanzia, guns weren't

Keeanzia, guns weren't responsible for this, murderers were. That's like saying "if all those dinosaurs didn't die a long time ago, there wouldn't be an oil spill in the gulf right now."

Hey, two people were

Hey, two people were killed...one black and one white. No need for anyone to go race ballistic. It's a sad commentary on the violence in Richmond Cty. Residents need to follow the Harrisburg example and start taking back their neighborhoods. They were both young and that's makes it even sadder.

There are people of ALL colors in that area...fine families..The problem is too much $$$ going downtown & NOT ENOUGH to fight crime south of the Gordon HY. The police dept. has all it can handle....I would be making my voice heard on tv-in the news whatever you have to do to stem the crime rate.

There were about 7 - 8

There were about 7 - 8 gunshots in the area last night around 9 p.m. Would not be surprised if that was related to this incident.

Given the location of the

Given the location of the shooting it would appear gang and drug related. If so then so be it. If the couple were picnicing and someone came up on them, it is a shame. But I would almost bet the drug/gang scenario is correct. I also assume the police are looking for potato peels in the area because of the outbreak of violence with potato guns. Seriously, why would the FBI investigate two kids with a plastic potato launcher, and not investigate a double homicide?

Machetes, Crossbows Poisonous gases, Chemicals & Bombs are even WORTSER.

Yea Taylor i heard an AK 47, big bore pistols, and several big firearms going off during the fireworks too. Might be the only time they can fire them inside the city limits and get away with it.

veggie has a point. Did the four-wheeler operators have persmission to be on that propoerty in the FIRST place. The Richmond County Sheriff's office needs to be investigating THAT.... before spending time on some petty double murder....if they are guilty of trespassing...the proverbial book should be thrown at them and they should be locked up for a long time. Heck, those bodies may not have discovered for who know how long....

i have to say, this is awful.

i have to say, this is awful. 2 people died and their families get to read a description in the newspaper. I have to admit, when i first read the tattoo descriptions of the young female found (multi-colored stars on her foot) I was frightened that it was a member of my family. Fortunately, it's not my family member but even just the thought of finding out this way was heart stopping. So, everyone should be thinking of the family members that may read THIS article before hearing from the authorities. Be considerate of other human beings people! One day it may just be you on the receiving end of something like this........just remember death has no prejudices....only ignorant, uneducated people.

Now for a bit of education.......211 is the California penal code for robbery, it also is Crip gang code for Blood Killer (2nd & 11th letters of the alphabet B K). I'm sure that RCSD already knew this but just thought it interesting.

Maybe because the double homicide was committed in the state of Georgia and no Federal law was violated?

It just seems that violence

It just seems that violence and hate is everywhere. For once, just once, can we look at this blog and see some good news? I guess they wouldn't consider it news then. Depressing. I praise God though for everyday. The fact that I can read the blog everyday is a blessing. These poor young people. I hope they find out what happened and justice is served. Just so much hatred and violence.
