A possible suspect in the theft of an Evans Kroger customer's wallet containing several thousand dollars

A surveillance camera captured video of the three males snatching a wallet off the customer service counter at the Evans grocery store and then leaving on June 16.

The wallet's owner, a 57-year-old Appling woman listed as disabled in a police report, said it contained between $6,000 and $7,000, her driver's license and a credit card.

Anyone with information about the theft should call the Columbia County Sheriff's Office at (706) 541-2800.

I don't know....$6K-$7K? Now if she was at the bank making a transaction or going to the bank.....I don't know. Need more details. Just speculating, they are probably guilty of stealing the wallet, but I would need more details of the content. Interesting.

I wouldn't carry that much

I wouldn't carry that much either, but we do not know why she had it, maybe it was from a bank transaction. I don't care if she had it to use as toilet paper, these little punks need to keep their hands off others property. I hope each one of them make the mistake of trying to steal from a prepared victim one day that will teach them the lesson they deserve to learn because the justice system sure won't teach it to them!!! I can't stand a theif and hope karma gets them worse than they ever could have imagined, they deserve anything they get.

After reading the article, I knew that the first comments would be "why would anyone be carrying...". Let's look at it this way ... It's none of our business!

If she is disabled, she might

If she is disabled, she might get gov't assistance, and might not want to put her money in a bank because then they would know how much money she has and cut her benefits. Maybe she was on her way to buy a car, put a down payment on a house, pay some taxes...who knows. The focus should be on the thieves, not why she had that money with her.

Was it 6K or 7K? Should I ever have to tote around that much money, you'd better believe I will know a little closer than give or take up to $1000 how much it it. Wonder what the denomination of the bills were.

Well if she had 7 to start

Well if she had 7 to start with, and did a little shopping, went to eat, and paid bills with some, she wouldnt know exactly how much she had left right off hand without sitting down and going through receipts and memory, which is hard to do when upset, not to mention the police arent going to sit around and wait that long for the correct amount down to the dollar, so the estimate is between the 6-7k.

If she had this amount, maybe

If she had this amount, maybe a young, relative knew she would have it. I know all of this is speculating. Anyway, hopefully they will have a follow up. The one thing about it is, they won't get away with it. Whether they are caught by police or not, they will definitely reap what they have sown with this. Poor lady.

Common sense will tell you that this was not a random snatch. Someone knew she was carrying that large amount of money.

If she wanted to carry 10k

If she wanted to carry 10k its her money. They had no right to take it. I find it funny that none of posters called the suspects thugs. I guess thay aint dark enough or in the wrong county.

double standard, though you

double standard, though you would like to think there is a racial reason behind that, I'd guess its because a weapon wasn't used nor did they try to physically hurt the lady. Sorry to burst your bubble, keep that card on hand and try again next time. Thank you for playing. =)

@ takeastand, thugs can be white or black. Amazing that illiterate people pull the race card because logical thinking would require too much of their pea sized brain. Takeastand and get a life, its 2010, not 1950.

I sold a vehicle once for

I sold a vehicle once for $6,000. Anybody care to take a guess how much cash the gentleman that bought the van was carrying when we met to close the deal. Then take a wild guess how much cash I was carrying before I got to the bank. There are many reasons this lady could have had that much cash on her, and most of them legal.
