  • Follow Crime & courts

A 61-year-old Augusta man said that he was robbed Friday night.

The man said that he was getting into his truck at an apartment complex on Second Avenue when a man came up behind him about 9:30 p.m. and displayed a handgun, according to a report from the Richmond County Sheriff's Office.

The robber held the gun to his face and said "give it up." He took $600 and a gold necklace and gold medallion valued at $400, the victim said.

The thief was described as black, 16 to 19 years old, about 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing about 140 pounds, according to the report.

Next time, before investing

Next time, before investing in gold, invest in a gun.

Yes, that is the answer.

Yes, that is the answer. Let's everyone forgo buying anything worth having. Must buy and walk around toting weapons 24/7. Yup, that would have solved this problem. NOT

If more of these little thugs

If more of these little thugs were shot during these robberies, the message would get out to others thinking about it. Wouldn't solve the problem, but sure would slow it down for a while! We don't need to forgo buying things worth having, these losers need to be taught a permanent lesson. They are nothing but wastes of flesh who do not deserve to live, at least not in this country. Pom, have you ever commented on an article about someone's car being broken into and their valuables stolen and made the comment not to leave valuables in the car? Is that not forgoing your right to enjoy and use your property as you wish? These punks deserve to be shot and I hope eventually every single one meets that victim who teaches them the lesson they need!!!!!

I see your point take, but I

I see your point take, but I don't see a comparison between let's all tote weapons around and using common sense when necessary. It is common sense not to leave purses, etc. in plain view. Many would argue if you state toting a weapon everywhere is common sense.
My stance on the weapons and not solving the crime problem, is due to how disasterous those situations could turn out! Carrying a weapon doesn't guarentee you'll shoot the perp before they shoot you or that the situation could turn out worse if you just had give it up and not tried to fight. And I don't know, I don't think i've posted on any articles like that.

You are right, there is a

You are right, there is a chance it could turn out worse and the perp could get the best of the victim. But thanks to the bleeding hearts the justice system will never punish or deter these lowlifes and eventually citizens will have to do it for themselves to get the message across we are sick of it. I'm just so sick and tired of all the excuses made for these wastes of flesh. They care more about the rights of the loser who made the choice to be a loser than protecting innocent people trying to live right. I applaud anyone who does what the bleeding hearts and justice system won't. I'm not for vigilantes as innocent people could be hurt, but it gets tiring seeing these same losers with rap sheets as long as your arm claiming another victim ya know? lol

It is every hard for me to think that a black man would have a gun and rob someone.

This almost sounds like the story last week about someone being robbed with the robber pointing a gun in their face, saying "give it up" and taking at least $500.

Black, white or Indian chief,
Unpublished

Black, white or Indian chief, pop him between the eyes first, ask questions later. BTW, it would help if the dimwits in control of the penitentiary revolving door could show a little common sense. Anyone who commits a crime with a weapon should pretty much be quanteed 20 plus REAL years in the slammer. If they shoot anyone, they should never see the light of day again.
Here's a thought, when and if Obamanation closes Gitmo perhaps that prison could become a home away from home for Americans that commit violent crimes.

I like that idea lsmith. I

I like that idea lsmith. I think violent criminals should be shipped out of the country anyway. No seeing their family and friends, no calls, tv, no nothing but maybe busting boulders. It should be a privilage to live in this country and if you are a violent criminal that privilage should be taken from you never to return. Go live on a deserted island somewhere and think about how good you had it in the USA. Instead the bleeding hearts give them 3rd 4th 20th chances and let them kill and attack again like the 2 time killer relased after 16 years only to almost kill his daughter and ruin her life. Bleeding hearts want to keep letting these losers have chances, why don't they go start another society somewhere where all the bleeding hearts can live amongst all the criminals they love so much.

Funny corgi lol, but not

Funny corgi lol, but not hardly. They are as big and as tacky as ever. If its not gaudy these days, its not in style. haha The only reason they may not wear them in public as much is for fear of it being jacked by a peer. haha

You guys ever think that the

You guys ever think that the "robber" was actually getting his stuff BACK from the "victim"??? See, it makes some sense, doesn't it? The "robber" KNEW how much cash the older dude had on him and he would be wearing the gold necklace! Hmmm, sheds alittle different light on the story now, huh? Maybe the younger guy wants to be "Robin Hood"....or maybe "Robbin' in the Hood"!

The reason it is better to

The reason it is better to have a gun is that if they thought everyone had a gun they would think twice about robbing people. Since the judges are just going to tell them not to do it again and let them go they are not afraid of getting caught. So save the taxpayers some money and handle it on the streets.
