Police recover marijuana after chase

  • Follow Crime & courts

Richmond County sheriff's deputies say they recovered more than a half pound of marijuana after a mile-long car chase through west Augusta.
The trouble started when a deputy tried to pull over a car without a proper tag at the intersection of Wrightsboro Road and Highland Avenue on Thursday, a report says. The driver of the green Oldsmobile accelerated and led deputies on a pursuit that ended at Wheeler Road and Monte Sano Avenue, according to a report.
The driver, Eli Green, and his passenger, Robert Haggins, who was holding a bag with 7.8 ounces of marijuana, bailed out of the car, the report says.
Both men were apprehended. Green, 27, of the 2900 block of Rollingwood Drive, had 11.6 grams of marijuana in his pocket, according to the report, and was charged with its possession, along with traffic charges and an outstanding warrant. Haggins, of the 2700 block of Tallowtree Street, faces charges including possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

Transporting drugs in a car

Transporting drugs in a car with no plates? They were trying to get busted. Well, smoking weed DOES lower the IQ significantly.

improve public transportation

improve public transportation and decriminalize weed. then maybe we can have our police catching the violent stinkers who actually make problems for us. putting stoners in jail costs us in cops' time and jailing expenses. doesn't it make sense to think of pot smokers more along the lines of drinkers, but maybe less violent?
