An Augusta woman was charged with cruelty to children in the first degree after she allegedly hit her 7-year-old brother with a cell phone on Tuesday.

Richmond County Sheriff's Office arrested Darnasia Hadden, 18, of the 1900 block of Murphy Road, said sheriff's Lt. Calvin Chew.

Deputies were dispatched to the family's apartment about 3 p.m. Tuesday after a 911 hang up. Deputies reported that upon arrival, they found the boy with bruises, swelling and cuts on his head.

"He was beaten to the point of throwing up," Lt. Chew said. "Apparently, he had broken her cell phone, and she got upset."

The victim was sent to the Medical College of Georgia Hospital and Clinics for examination, and was later released. The child will remain in the care of his mother, who phoned the police about the beating.

Hadden remained Tuesday morning at the Richmond County Jail.

What the heck does their dad

What the heck does their dad have to do with the incident? He wasn't part of the cruelty, so why should he be mentioned. Some people..
Getting this upset over a broken cell phone, just proves society is ruled more and more by technology. Am sure she will get her just rewards for this..

Mistake?? No, a mistake would be oops, didn't mean to hit you. Not, repeatedly hit someone leaving marks on them. So thankfully, no.. I most certainly can not relate!!

Beating a child in the head

Beating a child in the head is now considered a "mistake?"

No, I can't relate to beating a 7 year old. Mistake? You have to be kidding!

In addition to the tragedy of

In addition to the tragedy of the immediate incident, further tragedy occurs in that violence is passed down through generation after generation. In too many cases, an abused child grows up to kill either his/her abuser or someone else. It's easy to hit a little kid and get by with it, but one must remember that little kid will grow up -- and what goes around comes around. That sounds harsh, but it's too true to be good.

Good for the mother for

Good for the mother for reporting her daughter. She should not let the daughter ever come back in her house again.

backagain, beating a child

backagain, beating a child until he's covered with cuts and bruises and throwing up is far beyond a 'mistake'.

Too bad they can't sterilize morons like that before they breed children of their own to beat.

A sign of the times??

A sign of the times?? `Without natural affection'. That means not even caring about your family.

Chimer, the mother didn't

Chimer, the mother didn't have the courage to talk to dispatchers, she dialed and hung up. Police were sent to the apt to investigate the reason. The mother 'copped out' and doesn't deserve praise.

Backagain, apparently

Backagain, apparently Darnasia felt that she was without sin when she cast that cell phone at her little brother. Look how that is turning out for her.
