The South Carolina Department of Corrections is asking the public's help in finding an escapee who walked away from an Aiken facility March 2.
Brandon McDonald fled the minium-security Lower Savannah Pre-Release Center in Aiken last week. He is believed to be traveling between Aiken and Greenville with his common-law wife, Michelle Cooper, and their 8-month-old son. They have been traveling in a 1997 green Toyota Camry with South Carolina tag FFG 895, according to a news release.
McDonald is considered armed and dangerous. He was convicted of assault and battery in Greenwood County and began serving a four year, one month sentence September 2009, prison officials said.
He now faces a charge of felony escape, which carries a sentence of one 15 years in prison, while Cooper faces charges of aiding and abetting McDonald's escape.
Anyone with information between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. is asked to contact Corrections Fugitive Apprehension Unit at 1-877- 349-2130.
After 5 p.m., call 1-803- 896-2258, the S.C. Law Enforcement Division at 1-803- 737-9000 or local law enforcement.
Why was this man in a minimum security pre-release center for the crime he committed???????? Was he released from prison early??? Is that why he was in the pre-release center??? If so, this guy is more than stupid.... Well, the picture says quite a bit.
You said it right devgru. The words right out of my mouth.....
It was my understanding that violent offenders were not supposed to be housed in those pre-release centers. Guess they are using those centers to relieve over crowding in the big pens.
Grab him and the "common law" (aka child pez dispenser girlfriend) wife...lock them up for 50 plus years. Get that poor child into a home that will nurture and protect him...so he doesn't grow up "to be just like mommy and daddy."
