A teenager ran out of an Augusta clothing store on Monday afternoon, taking two pairs of blue jeans with him.
According to a Richmond County sheriff's report, at about 1 p.m. at Hipnotic Styles at 3209 Deans Bridge Road, a teenager went into the dressing room to try on some blue jeans. Employees told officers that when the teenager came out of the dressing room, he had both pairs of blue jeans down in his pants. The teenager fled from the store and was last seen running behind Wal-Mart.
The shoplifter was described as black, about 16 or 17 years old and wearing a black hat, a black jacket and blue jeans.

It's ridiculous that this story is headlined on local web pages. I bet that happened yesterday in quite a few places. Obviously it doesn't take much to get into the news media.
It's only newsworthy because the perp was a young black man. How often does THAT happen in Augusta?

Are the media or authorities prohibited from mentioning a teenager's sex in the APB description?
Dave - since the AC referred to the teenager as a "he," one should assume it wasn't female :)
