Aiken man sentenced on child porn charges

  • Follow Crime & courts

AIKEN - An Aiken County man was sentenced for child pornography in federal court Tuesday.

U.S. District Judge Margaret B. Seymour sentenced Troy Darryl Spence, 29, of Jackson, to 10 years for possession of child pornography, Acting U.S. Attorney Kevin McDonald said in a news release.

Spence admitted to using computers to access and download child pornography from the Internet. He received an increased sentence due to a 2003 conviction for aggravated assault and battery. In that case, Spence was prosecuted for taking indecent liberties with a nine-year-old girl, McDonald said.

After serving his sentence, he will be supervised by federal probation officers indefinitely. He will also have to register as a sex offender.

Any grown adult who has to

Any grown adult who has to get his jollies from child pornography does not deserve to be on the street. And one who has already been found guilty "for taking indecent liberties with a nine-year-old girl," should be looking at grass from the underside. There is no excuse.

The really sad thing, Petey

The really sad thing, Petey is there is no gaurantee that he served 6 years on the indecent liberties on the 9 year old in the first offense only that he was convicted of the charge. The bleeding heart court system may have only given him a year or two and gotten out for all we know, at least me anyway. That offense by itself should carry a twenty year minimun sentence with no time off, minimun.
The 10 year senrence for the child pornagraphy after the first conviction is a laughing stock, they (the court system) does not care about our children or grandchildren, all they care about is the poor mistreated uninformed pervert. Somebody has to stand up in our country and retake our court system to make the sentences more appropriate to the crime. Much longer sentences, and with child molestation, a life sentence and preferably the possibility to prosecute for the death penalty, and just as a last comment, registering as a sex offender is going to do what, are they going to come running to law enforcement screaming I have reoffended. Well, I do believe they should register, when but more so if they were to ever get out. You are so right any adult that gets his or hers from the molestation of a child does not deserve to ever walk our streets again.
