For many people, this is a quick and hassle-free way to finalize Christmas shopping without having to spend a lot of gas money or fight the Christmas crowds. If you plan to take advantage of the online sales, then you might want to sign up for Ebates, an online cash-back program. Once you sign up for free, you start at their Web site and click the link from their page to the store you wish to shop at. That link will earn you cash back on your purchases. Currently Wal-mart has 4 percent, Target has up to 4 percent, Kohl’s has 6 percent and Toys R Us has 2 percent cash back.
You can find fall- or Thanksgiving-themed items and some wedding supplies on clearance starting this month. New sales will focus on Christmas items, including deals on Christmas décor, wrapping paper, tape, bows, ribbon, and greeting cards.
After Christmas Day, one of my favorite clearance deals can be found at Target and Wal-mart. Christmas bath toy sets will be marked down 50-75 percent off original prices starting on Dec. 26. This is a wonderful stockpile opportunity for parents of young children for bath toys, bath crayons, and bubble baths. I urge parents and grandparents to purchase several of these sets and put away for their little ones throughout the year. I like to stock up on the toothbrush sets, bath crayons and paints and plenty of bathroom toys.
It’s also a great time to stock up on adult gift sets. I try to buy several each year for gift needs throughout the year – teacher appreciation gifts, Mothers Day, Fathers Day (shaving sets or barbeque sets), new home gifts, and birthdays. You can also buy a set or two for yourself for vacation travel.
