Newest iPhones are really similar

In addition to the much-talked-about iOS 7 launch last week (I’m still not used to the way apps zoom in and out), Apple has released the iPhones 5c and 5s for us to enjoy. The first difference between the two is price – the 5c starts at $99 and 5s at $199. The 5c also comes in a choice of five colors of polycarbonate casing, and the 5s has a brushed aluminum casing in three color options.

As you might imagine, the 5s is stronger and faster than the 5c and comes with an exciting new fingerprint sensor. The surprising thing, in my opinion, is that the two phones are so similar. The 5c was touted as being an option for iPhone owners on a budget, but I will be surprised if the $100 shoppers save on the 5c winds up making that much of a difference.

WHAT’S TRENDY

The Purple Cow is the latest member of the Midtown/Monte Sano Avenue retail family, and I’m so excited to see it there. A frozen yogurt and coffee shop in the space formerly occupied by Wesley Cadle’s lifestyle store, The Purple Cow is the perfect place to enjoy this pretty weather we’ve had lately. The shop is owned by Nick Gladd, father to three girls, and features an outdoor seating area that is safe to let kids run around in. Find it on Facebook and at 1419 Monte Sano Ave.

WHAT’S AFFORDABLE

The latest in the Target-designer collaborations is a collection by 3.1 Phillip Lim. This collection includes some menswear pieces and a wide range of looks for women, of course. Pieces are as low as $19.99 and all have the trademark Phillip Lim “look” that make them a total steal.

My only complaints are that the cocktail dresses are made of material that is very much less-than, and the faux leather detailing is low-quality.

Stick to the florals and graphic-print pieces we know and love from this designer, and you’ll be set.
