So long, Vine, it’s been nice using you.
Instagram released an update last week that added video capabilities (complete with fun filters). It was inevitable, but I was surprised how soon it was able to oust Vine. Vine usage had already started to drop off after the initial buzz, and I think it’s mainly because none of us wants to add one more app we have to check.
Instagram allows you to now share video and stills in the same place, to the same people. You can still share it on Facebook and Twitter, and the video filters are super fun. I’m sure there will be Vine diehards, but I foresee the app going the way of not-quite apps such as Path and Lulu.
I love a good summer rainstorm, but the weather lately has been a little too wet for my liking.
One thing that I have enjoyed is getting to wear my new bright yellow jelly sandals – they’re like a summertime version of rubber boots. Mine were a steal at $12 from Old Navy, and they’re sold in a variety of colors.
The concept of rubber boot alternatives is cropping up in other brands as well. Hunter sells an absolutely adorable ballet flat made out of its trademark rubber. Those are a little pricier at about $50, but they’re a great option if you want to save your leather sandals but don’t want your feet to feel stuffy all day long.
If you or a family member is an active-duty member of the military, the National Guard or the reserve, you can enjoy free admission to a few local museums this summer.
The Blue Star Museums program has agreed to give free admission to members of the military and their families from Memorial Day through Labor Day. In Augusta, the Morris Museum of Art and Lucy Craft Laney Museum of Black History are participating.
What a great way to spend time with family around July 4th, right?
