What do you think about Google Glass? It doesn’t get more “wave of the future” than the glasses-like contraption that projects a ghostly screen in the corner of your vision and tells you everything your smartphone can, just with a quick voice prompt.
As you might think, you can’t just go out and buy Glass yet. In fact, the first wave of owners (“Glass Explorers”) had to apply for the honor. The project is still in the final stages of perfecting. Like the iPhone and every other technological advance before it, Glass will be more annoying and glitchy than helpful for a while. Nonetheless, isn’t this exciting?
Never before have there been so many opportunities to observe the art of dance. So You Think You Can Dance, Dancing With the Stars and Dancing Stars of Augusta.
The Alzheimer’s Association of Augusta has used this event as a fundraiser for the past several years, and it’s so much fun. This year’s event is June 7 and will feature local notables including Augusta Commissioner Joe Bowles and Columbia County Convention and Visitors Bureau chief Randy DuTeau.
Tickets are $25 for balcony seats, but I really suggest going for the dinner, drinks and dance floor option. They’re a bit pricier at $100, but it goes to such a great cause! Find more info at www.dancingstarsofaugusta2013.kintera.org.
Oh, I love being right. News came out this week that H&M does plan to have an Augusta store open within the year. Rumors had reached my ear a few months ago that the retailer was looking at Augusta Mall, and those rumors have been substantiated by Augusta Mall staff.
Of course, it’s not over until the ribbon is cut and the doors are open, but I think it would be a great fit for the Augusta market.
H&M sells at a very low price point and has consistently great looks. You don’t go there for quality, or eternal good style, but it’s a great place to get fun, cheap stuff.
