Shopgirl: Helpful apps for photos, free concerts and a new store at Augusta Mall

Use a few helpful iPhone apps to make sure those iPhone photos make it to the family photo albums, not just the ones online.

Shutterfly and Walgreens both have the ability to import photos from your Instagram account to print, and of course Facebook as well. Just about everyone can print photos off Facebook, but I find that most of the photos I want are from my Instagram.

To keep your photos organized from a particular trip or event, use a hashtag like #shepherdfamilyfripp2013 or #georgegraduation. When it comes time to print, just click on the hashtag and all your photos will be right there.


The first of the Hopelands Gardens Summer Concert Series is Monday, and it’s a great (free) way to enjoy local groups in a beautiful setting in a beautiful time of year. The series is every Monday through Aug. 19, with music starting at 7 p.m. In case of rain, the concert would be held at the Odell Weeks Activities Center Gym.

This year’s lineup starts with the Aiken Concert Band kicking things off Monday, and includes Savannah River Winds, Aiken Civic Ballet, Suzuki Strings of Augusta and a host of other groups.


You might have seen the billboard, but the Augusta Mall is welcoming a new member to its family of stores – Clarks – to the space formerly occupied by KnowStyle.

The British shoe company has done a great job of injecting its brand with new life in recent years, and it’s a good step for Augusta Mall as well. This is the first Georgia location outside the Atlanta area.
