Tiny iPhone projector, online orders by Christmas and a haunted Christmas Eve tour
New iPhone projector

WHAT’S SEASONAL

When all the family comes to town, it can be hard to find things to occupy everyone who isn’t wrapping presents or cooking for the big dinner.

The Augusta Museum of History’s Augusta Ghost Trolley is running its Spirits of the Holidays rides every Friday and Saturday through Christmas Eve. It’s the perfect way to entertain out-of-town guests and show them a little bit about our fair city.

Tickets cost $22 for adults and $12 for kids ages 5-12. You need to make reservations at least two hours before the tour. E-mail tours@AugustaGhostTrolley.com to save your spot. There are rates for groups of more than 15, so call (706) 364-6608 for more information.

WHAT’S NEW

The iPhone does just about everything, especially with the personal assistant Siri on the 4S. One thing it doesn’t do is project videos.

MicroVision’s ShowWX+ is a projector that fits in your hand and can project video and images up to 100 inches wide. This would be a great solution to lugging around bulky projectors for presentations and a fun way to have a home theater experience anywhere.

One reviewer was so impressed he suggested it might change the way we watch television.

“Time will only tell if Microvision’s ShowWX+ is mentioned in the same breath as the camera obscura or IMAX, but for now it’s the palm-size reason to give up your flat-screen,” he said.

The projector costs $450; you can find out more at www.microvision.com/showwxplus.

WHAT’S AFFORDABLE

Hopefully you have all of your Christmas shopping just about done. If you have been procrastinating, shipping deadlines for online orders will be anywhere from Monday to later in the week.

Land’s End is offering 30 percent off all their online orders and free shipping for orders of $50 or more, but you have to order before Tuesday.

Amazon is the king of quick shipping, and its prices are pretty reasonable. It says standard shipping orders should be in by Tuesday to arrive by Christmas. If you’re willing to shell out anywhere from $3.99 to $9.99 per item, you can buy on Friday and get it the next day. That lightning-fast shipping isn’t available on all items, though.
