According to a news release, the grocery store’s grand opening will show off 41,000 square feet of space and feature a nine-hole putting green and patio, a coffee bar and a large cheese selection.

Sneak-preview tours will be offered Sept. 19-20. Online registration is required to secure a 45-minute tour between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. Sept. 19, and between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sept. 20, the news release stated. Boomtown!!!

The entire metro/CSRA is growing and the Washington road area of West Augusta is really booming.. The Mednow facility at 2851 Washington road and the Kroger expansion at 2817 & 2819 Washington road should begin in the next month or two.(8,900 SQ. FT. development, traffic signal, access road)..

Circle K will soon be demolished and the second PDQ restaurant(first location underway in Evans at North Belair/Washington) will break ground in metro Augusta..

Cookout is forcing Crazy Turks to open in the Paine College area/Medical District.... The new Cookout will become the 3rd location(Harrisburg & Martinez) and South Augusta or Aiken should become the fourth.

I noticed that the other

I noticed that the other grocery stores on Washington Rd. have stepped up their game. Kroger has set up a food bar, sushi bar, and antipasto bar and redesigned the store. Kroger and Publix have improved their produce section, which is a strength of Whole Foods. I hope their hot bar is good as the ones I've tried in other cities.

Competition

WF will create good competition among the aforementioned stores on that part of Washington Road. All of them, as well as Earthfare and Fresh Market (the latter to a lesser extent; they seem to have an established upper-crust clientele) should be very concerned for the future of their customer base. WF appeals directly to the foodie demographic and will certainly cut into it.

We also look forward to a good hot bar/salad bar with many plant-based selections. There's so little of that to choose from here.

All the best to Whole Paycheck (I mean, Whole Foods)!

TRAFFIC

All I see is more traffic in an already congested area! Moved away from that area for the same reason!

Successful...

If Whole Foods really wanted to be successful... they'd hire the guy from the Reid's radio spots to be their spokesman...

Whole FOODS... WE CAN SPEND YOUR MOOOOONNNEYYYY!
