This year, local franchisee Pat Landon is introducing two new Bojangles’ to the Augusta market, adding a replacement restaurant in North Augusta and renovating his existing fast-food business at 3412 Mike Padgett Highway.
The new North Augusta restaurant is set to open Monday at 1010 Edgefield Road, on the old Huddle House property next to the Wal-Mart Supercenter now under construction, Landon said.
Two additional Bojangles’ will open in mid-July near Augusta Mall at the corner of Wrightsboro and Wylds roads and in early August on an out-parcel at the Aiken Sam’s Club on U.S. Highway 1. Landon said he also will remodel his Mike Padgett Highway restaurant in late 2014.
Each new restaurant will employ about 70 workers, he said.
Landon has operated the local franchise since 2002 and opened a Grovetown Bojangles’ last September. Landon said he expects to open at least two more sites within the next three years.
The area’s other Bojangles’ franchisee, Tim Biakabutuka, plans to add another restaurant near the Evans Wal-Mart in late June to his three stores already open. That restaurant will add about 30 employees.
Bojangles’ was founded in 1977 in Charlotte, N.C., and has nearly 550 restaurants across the Southeast, the Northeast and Honduras.
