Johnson Building has new tenants

  • Follow Local Business

A downtown barbershop has moved into the Johnson Building, which was vacated last year by a locally owned music store.

The owners of Keep it Tight, Johnny Williams and Ron Bryant, have moved a block away from their former shop at 814 Broad St. to occupy double storefronts within the 758 Broad St. property. The new shop opened last week.

Williams said the move will give them more space and exposure. In coming months, he plans to double his staff of six employees and add a women’s salon on the opposite side of the building.

Keep it Tight was open for eight years at its former Broad Street spot, Williams said.

The downstairs portion of the Johnson Building has been empty since last summer when Rock Bottom Music moved from downtown to west Augusta after more than a decade on the corner of Broad and Eighth streets.
