County Hut replaced Al’s Family Restaurant, which closed at 611 Atomic Road this year after more than 30 years in business.

Alonzo and Latonya Harling opened the new restaurant, which serves country-style breakfast, dinner and lunch. The Hephzibah couple is in the process of purchasing the property and has renovated the building.

“We both love cooking,” Alonzo Harling said. “We always come up with different recipes and different things of doing things in the kitchen.”

The restaurant has a staff size of eight employees and is closed Saturdays.

Restaurateur Butch Bone closed Al’s Family Restaurant in February, citing the economy as the reason. It had been open on Atomic Road since 1978.

It's great!

Been there several times. Great food. The turkey and dressing on Sunday is like mama made and is to die for!
