Martinez Bi-Lo set to show off renovations

  • Follow Local Business

The Bi-Lo at 500 Furys Ferry Road will show off its renovations next week.

The remodeled grocery store at 500 Furys Ferry Road will open its doors Wednesday with wider aisles and expanded deli, meat and seafood departments. The first 100 customers to arrive at the store will receive $25 gift cards.

The Martinez store is the newest Bi-Lo to undergo renovations. In 2012, the corporation unveiled three metro-area stores at 1631 Gordon Highway in Augusta, 2803 Wrightsboro Road in Augusta and 4480 Columbia Road in Martinez.

They more resemble the newer stores that Bi-Lo has in Columbia County.

Hope there is enough market for the Bi Lo and Publix after

the new Walmart market opened a week ago. I have been in the new Walmart market and it is nice and clean and resembles all traditional grocery stores but has the regular Walmart prices.

The BiLo has been remod'ing

The BiLo has been remod'ing for weeks/months. Get in there several times a week. This smells like hype. Not knockin them but I don't believe they ever closed the doors for the remod did they?

The new downsized model of

The new downsized model of Walmart Market is still just Walmart- mediocre fruits and veg and saline injected meats. So no, I don't see that store as any threat to Publix or this new Bi-lo.

BI-LO is tryi8ng top make a

BI-LO is trying to make a come back. They have purchased several Food Lion stores in the South Carolina market, including the Reid's and Harvey's format owned by Food Lion, and also purchased several stores from Piggly Wiggly Carolina, most of the stores are in the low country and Savannah, Ga. BI-LO sold some existing stores in the Charlotte, N. C. area to Publix, which plans to remodel them and reopen them under the Publix banner. BI-LO also has plans for an IPO, which will remove them from ownership of the investment company which currently owns them, and make them once again a publicly traded company. The only thing left is personnel changes in management and then they will be successful.

Welcome to the forum, JustLilMe. I am right there with you on the saline injected meats. I can't stand them. They can be stringy and dry. The taste is completely unnatural. Where can I get non-injected chicken?

Walmart Marketplace

Just got back from the Walmart Marketplace. I really liked it because you don't have all the late night idiots looking for wiper fluid at midnight, just food, not a great selection but perfect for what I needed. Much cheaper than my favorite store, Publix.

Yeah, I visited the new

Yeah, I visited the new Walmart Market. It's just the food part of the superstore. The produce is not good and I've never purchased meat from Walmart cause it looks scary. Not worth the trip for me because I mostly buy real food, not packaged stuff, though it is very clean. I'll just keep making my journeys to different stores: Fresh Market and Earthfare for my meats and produce and deli, Publix and Kroger for the other stuff. Bilo does have a decent produce section and deli, though I don't usually shop there.

@ironpurps

Did you often encounter late night idiots looking for wiper fluid in the grocery section at Walmart? (c;

The meat issues must be widespread with all the commercials they're doing about how their meat wins in blind taste tests.
