Energy sales tax holiday starts Friday

Sales tax will be exempt on energy- and water-efficient products purchased this weekend across Georgia.

The sales tax holiday is limited to appliances and other products that cost no more than $1,500 and bear an Energy Star or Water Sense label, according to the state’s Department of Revenue office.

The tax holiday starts Friday and runs through Sunday.

Products purchased for a business or trade use, or those being rented or leased, do not apply for the sales-tax exemption.

APPLICABLE ENERGY-EFFICIENT PRODUCTS: Air conditioners, ceiling fans, clothes washers, dehumidifiers, dishwashers, doors, fluorescent light bulbs, programmable thermostats, refrigerators and windows

APPLICABLE WATER-EFFICIENT PRODUCTS: Bathroom sink faucets, faucet accessories, high-efficiency toilers, high efficiency-urinals, showerheads and weather- or sensor-based irrigation controllers
