DISH and the broadcaster’s parent company, Media General, have been in negotiations to reach a retransmission agreement since June.
DISH representatives said in a statement Tuesday that Media General rejected their offer of a short-term contract extension as the broadcasting company awaits a merger with Young Broadcasting, which is expected in the fourth quarter.
DISH is fighting what it calls a “massive price increase” from Media General. Seventeen Southern markets would be affected by the stalemate.
A similar issue between DISH and Raycom Media, Fox affiliate WFXG, was settled Aug. 9 with an undisclosed agreement.
