Career workshop for girls set for June

  • Follow Local Business

A free workshop geared for girls without access to career planning will be held June 5-7 at the Jessye Norman School of the Arts.

The inaugural Finding the Way Forward Workshop will take place for girls in grades eight through 12. The workshop is aimed for those from low- to moderate-income households without exposure to college and career planning.

The workshop will feature forums by local businesswomen, classes in junior achievement and opportunities for dance, performance techniques and poetry.

Applications are due May 31 and can be found at or at the school, 739 Greene St. in Augusta.

If an organization held a free career planning workshop for boys in grades eight through 12, there would be an uproar.
