Students have until March 27 to sign up for Youth Leadership Columbia County, now in its 16th year.
A selection committee chooses class members based on their desire to learn about the community and become leaders. The nine-month program is open to rising sophomores or juniors who attend a Columbia County public or private school, or are home-schooled in the county.
Tuition is $150 per student and applications are available through area high schools and on the chamber’s Web site.
The chamber’s adult leadership program is also open for applications.
The 10-month leadership development program is designed to expose participants to the opportunities and challenges in a community and hone their leadership skills. Civic issues to be covered include education, history, media, healthcare, local government, economics and community service.
Tuition costs $975 per class member, with a $100 discount available for Columbia County Chamber members.
Applications can be found at the chamber’s Evans office at 1000 Business Boulevard or on the chamber’s Web site. The application deadline is April 25.
Both leadership groups will start meeting in August after participants are selected.
