Roadrunner Cafe opening second location

  • Follow Local Business

Roadrunner Cafe is opening its second restaurant in Augusta.

The locally owned restaurant will open at 2821 Washington Road in the third week of September, said co-owner Charlie Sconyers.

The original Roadrunner Cafe, at 2508 Peach Orchard Road, opened in 2005 and has 35 employees.

Sconyers said he and his brother, Randy Sconyers, selected the Washington Road site, formerly Flyin’ Cowboy, because of its location and availability.

“We actually want to get to a point where we franchise. Probably do about one a year,” Sconyers said.

He said he will hire 80 to 120 employees. Applications will be accepted at the restaurant starting Sept. 1.

The 7,000-square-foot restaurant has a seating capacity of 210. Sconyers is cleaning and making minor renovations.

Roadrunner Cafe’s menu includes hamburgers, wings, steak and seafood. The location will have a bar and offer karaoke and acoustic acts, Sconyers said.

@pommom38 About Thyme Cafe

@pommom38 About Thyme Cafe just opened near the Municipal Building. New Mexican joint I can't recall the name of is opening across from Monterrey's in their old building (doesn't make sense, but hey, it's new). 'Taste' hasn't been open long in Hammond's Ferry as well. SLP Mexican Restaurant in Belvedere is pretty new, too. There's also a new restaurant going into the building next to the old Shoney's (and whatever Chinese buffet it is now/was) that I can't recall the name of. So if you're into Mexican you're in luck. If not, I guess you need to be more specific, because there's still some to go around.

Felt like I was channeling Countyman there for a minute. Whoa.

Unpublished

Indisputable evidence that Augusta is growing and is an attractive location for new businesses. Plus that's another 100 jobs. Richmond County is the place to be. There have been no murders on that part of Washington Rd for 10 years. Very safe.
