Owner Michael McCauley said the move has been in progress for about a year.
The new space is 2,900 square feet, larger than the 2,500 square feet on Edgefield Road in North Augusta.
“August and September are our biggest volume months, so we decided it would be a great time to move and expand,” McCauley
said. “Our current shoe stockroom is only equipped to hold about 1,300 pairs of shoes, and with the volume we are now doing we need more space.”
The new business facility will be able to hold 2,000 pairs of shoes.
Fleet Feet employs 11 people, and McCauley plans to hire several more part-time workers.
He said the store typically has a waiting list of people to fit for running shoes on Saturdays, so most of the new employees will handle the expected increase in store traffic.
McCauley said the store will carry several new lines of sports apparel, sunglasses and accessories and might add more shoe lines.
